I Finally Did It! – My First Blog Post!

Hi All!

I have wanted to start a blog for over 5 years and now I AM FINALLY doing it!

Ever since I stumbled upon Lee’s blog , Fit Foodie Finds, while browsing Google for recipes to make for Thanksgiving in November 2009, I have been obsessed with reading not only Lee’s blog but also Julie’s, Courtney’sTina’s, and many, many more!

I grew up in an active family where nature walk’s, swimming, rollerblading, football, and basketball made up the vast majority of my childhood.  I began competitively swimming at age 13, competitively running freshman year of high school, and played one year of tennis my senior year of high school.

During my college years at the University of Wisconsin , I continued running as a stress reliever….long runs made an appearance every day.  I never ran so much than I did that year.  I had a tough time adjusting to college life, being away from my family and closest friends for the first time ever, so the one thing I held onto for consistency was running.  I used to go for 1-3 hours runs just to explore my new city, de-stress, and have the “me time” that I needed while sharing an 8×8 dorm room with a then stranger.  My “new” friends at college (who are still some of my best friends 7 years later), including Jenna (check out her blog for some amazing recipes and fashion posts!) helped me make Madison, Wi feel like home in no time 🙂

My junior year of college, I added yoga into my workout routine and it helped both mentally and physically to balance my life out.  For anyone who has never done yoga– YOU HAVE TO TRY IT. It not only is a killer workout, it also does wonders for your mental health.

Fast forward to present day, I am now in my second year as an account at a company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  I have found balance in my post-college life to continue to include exercise in my daily routine.  I continue to run 4-6 miles per day, frequently take yoga classes over my lunch hour (when my work schedule allows me), but also have found enjoyment in taking long walks on the weekend along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, and also have found an extreme passion for cooking *healthy* and tasty meals with my boyfriend, Michael (pictured below) !

I am excited to share my journey with you all as I continue to live the adventurous, healthy, active, and *cold* life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
